Chapter 454 - 416: Why Doesn’t She Just Ascend to Heaven?
Chapter 454 - 416: Why Doesn’t She Just Ascend to Heaven?
After this elevation of her state of mind, Aurora Sinclair felt as if her body had undergone another change.
She could seemingly sense the state of every living being—whether their vitality was flourishing or flickering like a candle in the wind.
Like the villagers on the opposite mountain peak; the vitality of some among them seemed to be running low.
Aurora Sinclair’s eyes flew open. The Kaelan Mountains before her seemed normal, but much of the Power of Heaven and Earth around the peak had vanished.
The thick fog gradually dissipated, and sunlight shone down.
The blanket of snow was pure white and dazzling.
She raised a hand, slightly shielding her eyes from the sun.
Suddenly, she noticed the scar on her right arm was gone.
The skin was smooth, as if it had never been injured at all.
She leaped up from the ground and shot down the mountain.
Though the mountain wind howled, it couldn’t harm her in the slightest.
In a matter of minutes, she had already reached the foot of Sunstone Mountain.
"Aurora—"
Leigh Miles’s shout echoed from the mountaintop.
A hint of a smile touched Aurora Sinclair’s eyes. With just a few bounds, she scaled the peak of Sunstone Mountain.
"Master..." Aurora Sinclair raised her hands and performed a respectful Ancient Martial Ceremony bow to Master Aerion.
Master Aerion made a gesture to help her up, looking at her with confusion.
He could no longer sense any energy from her at all.
He couldn’t even feel the Power of Heaven and Earth she had previously used to scale the peak.
"Are you injured?"
Aurora Sinclair shook her head and even rolled up her sleeve to show him her arm.
Master Aerion was instantly stunned. "This is..."
Aurora Sinclair just shook her head again, not knowing the reason either.
Just then, Ruth Winslow, who was being supported by someone, said weakly, "She has likely reached the Great Martial Venerable realm. Her body would have undergone a certain degree of reconstruction."
"Great... Great Martial Venerable?" Leigh Miles looked at Aurora Sinclair in disbelief, her eyes gradually filling with fanatical admiration.
Then, just like when they were children, she pounced on Aurora Sinclair and hugged her excitedly. "AHHHH... My senior sister is a Great Martial Venerable! Does this mean those Regulators won’t fine us anymore?"
Everyone: ...
Aurora Sinclair looked at Master Aerion’s embarrassed face, patted Leigh’s head, and hummed in agreement.
Everyone’s faces darkened.
Aurora Sinclair slowly walked over to the elderly village chief, took his wrist, and a steady stream of Vitality from Heaven and Earth flowed into his body.
But the village chief gripped her hand, a wise light appearing in his eyes. "Rory, you mustn’t! The light of a dying candle dares not compete with the brilliance of the heavens."
"Village Chief..."
"This is the natural order of the world. Remember, you must not tamper with fate." The village chief raised his hand to pat Aurora Sinclair’s head and said with relief, "Rory has grown up..."
A dark glint gradually appeared in Aurora Sinclair’s eyes. She slowly lowered the hand holding the village chief’s, her lovely lips pressing into a thin line.

「Three days later.」
Sunstone Village held another funeral.
The villagers wept inconsolably, placing the peacefully departed village chief into his coffin, preparing to bury him at the foot of the Kaelan Mountains.
"Leigh, where’s Rory? They’re about to seal the coffin..." Indie Lowell whispered.
Leigh Miles glanced at her master, who was still chanting scriptures, then quietly stood up and ran out of the mourning hall.
Since her breakthrough, her senior sister had only shown herself once before returning to the peak of the Kaelan Mountains to continue her seclusion.
She had gone to the foot of the mountain that morning to deliver the news, but Aurora still hadn’t returned. Leigh worried something had gone wrong.
Just as Leigh Miles ran out of the mourning hall, she saw that pest, Ruth Winslow.
"Don’t bother. She’s not coming," Ruth Winslow said flatly, leaning against a large tree by the entrance.
"How would you know?"
Ruth Winslow looked at the Compass in her hand, let out two soft chuckles, and turned to leave.
"Hey... What’s with her?"
Leigh Miles quickened her pace and ran toward the Kaelan Mountains.
"Aurora— The village chief’s coffin is about to be sealed! You’re the only one who hasn’t seen him one last time..."
"Aurora—"
But only her echo answered from the empty Kaelan Mountains.
She tried to climb to the summit, but an invisible wall blocked her at the base of the mountain.
"Aurora— If you don’t go now..."
The funeral gongs began to sound from Sunstone Village. She slowly lowered the hands she had cupped around her mouth like a megaphone.
She felt incredibly sad.
The village chief used to dote on them the most, always bringing them tasty treats.
’But why wouldn’t she come to see him one last time?’
’Does a higher realm really mean a colder heart?’
Leigh Miles sighed and turned to leave.
「On the peak of the Kaelan Mountains.」
Aurora Sinclair stood with her hands behind her back, gazing at Sunstone Village in the distance. Suddenly, she knelt and kowtowed three times.

The funeral was a low-key affair.
After the burial, the families ate a meal together and then went their separate ways.
Leigh Miles sat on the peak of Sunstone Mountain, gazing toward the Kaelan Mountains, still unable to understand why her senior sister was so cold-hearted.
"Sis, we have to find Senior Sister..." Titus Miles scrambled up Sunstone Mountain, grabbing her hand with an anxious look and pulling her toward the Kaelan Mountains.
The ten-year-old boy was surprisingly strong, nearly yanking Leigh Miles off her feet.
"Slow down, slow down! What’s wrong with Aurora?" Leigh Miles thought something had happened to Aurora Sinclair, and her face instantly filled with anxiety.
But Titus Miles’s eyes were red, and he just kept pulling her toward the Kaelan Mountains.
"Tiger, what on earth is wrong?"
After a frantic sprint, Titus Miles suddenly stopped, turned, and threw himself into Leigh Miles’s arms, crying, "Sis, don’t go..."
"Go? Go where?" Leigh Miles was completely bewildered, but Titus just kept crying in her arms.
Leigh Miles felt a headache coming on. Once this kid started crying, it was like his tears were free, and he’d be inconsolable for ages.
"I didn’t say I was going anywhere... You little rascal, stop crying."
Resigned, Leigh Miles scooped Titus Miles up and started walking slowly toward the Kaelan Mountains.
By the time they reached the foot of the Kaelan Mountains, Titus Miles’s sobs had gradually subsided.
The Kaelan Mountains were cold at night. Even with her strength as a Martial King, she felt a slight chill.
She hugged Titus Miles tighter and whispered, "You’re a big boy now, still such a crybaby?"
Titus Miles rested his head on Leigh Miles’s shoulder and sobbed, "The mean lady is going to take you away..."
"Mean lady? You mean that pest?"
Leigh Miles stopped in her tracks and looked down at him, confused.
"Yeah, she told Master she’s going to take you away..."
"Take me away? Hah! She’s got some nerve! Doesn’t Aurora just owe her a little money? Does she have to be so pushy?"
Furious, Leigh Miles immediately put Titus Miles down, rolled up her sleeves, and was about to go back and fight Ruth Winslow.
She had only taken a few steps when a tall figure blocked her path.
"Aurora..."
Bathed in moonlight, Aurora Sinclair looked like an Immortal who floated above the mortal world, making people afraid to approach.
Leigh Miles suddenly felt that the person before her was no longer the senior sister she knew, and a trace of fear rose in her heart.
But as soon as Titus Miles saw her, he started crying again. He ran over, hugged Aurora Sinclair’s waist, and tattled, "Senior Sister, don’t let the mean lady take my sister away..."
"Tiger!" Leigh Miles cried out in alarm. She was afraid Aurora Sinclair would get angry, especially since she was the Sect Leader now.
But just as she spoke, a cool, clear "Mm," echoed through the quiet of the Kaelan Mountains.
Leigh Miles’s heart trembled. For some reason, her nose tingled and her eyes turned red.
"Wait for me here..."
The cool voice seemed to come from the wind, and the person before them had already vanished.
’Aurora...’
