Chapter 617: The Young Madam is Mighty
Chapter 617: The Young Madam is Mighty
Xueman almost coughed up blood from sheer rage, but she could understand why Qin Qing didn’t believe her. If she were the one being hunted by over two hundred thousand people, and her pursuers, having finally cornered her, claimed they were there to rescue her, she certainly wouldn’t believe it either.
"Young Madam, what do you mean by this?"
Leng Yue was utterly baffled. The Young Master had clearly said that not only would the three Judicator Families stop pursuing them, but they would also venerate them like ancestors. Qin Qing had seen the text message, so why didn’t she believe it now?
"If we hadn’t received Ye Xiu’s text, and Xueman said they were here to save us, would you believe her?" Qin Qing countered.
Leng Yue was suddenly enlightened. That’s right! If we had just taken Xueman at her word and believed these people were here to save us, what would the three Judicator Families think? That we’re foolish and easily deceived? Or would they suspect we already knew Xueman and the others were no longer hunting us?
Qin Qing’s actions were meant to prevent the three Judicator Families from becoming suspicious.
"Furthermore," Qin Qing continued, "we will have to fight the Eternal Kingdom sooner or later. This is a perfect opportunity to weaken their forces. Most importantly, even if we kill all of these people, it’s completely justifiable. The Eternal Kingdom and the three Judicator Families can die of anger for all I care; they can’t do anything to us. After all, they were the ones hunting us. We’re acting in justifiable self-defense!"
Heh, Young Madam, this "justifiable self-defense" of yours sounds a bit like hooliganism... Leng Yue thought to herself.
She asked, "So, we kill them?"
Qin Qing leaped off Pipi Pig’s back. "Kill them!"
Instantly, Leng Yue and Pipi Pig threw themselves into the battle.
The outcome of this fight was never in doubt.
In a single charge, the army of beasts killed one-third of the 5,000 Martial Artists and injured another third. Beasts didn’t subscribe to any martial code. They just charged headfirst with wild abandon, and then it was a free-for-all gang beatdown.
SNORT, SNORT...
Pipi Pig charged forward. Its massive body, over four meters tall and six meters long, was like a fast-moving fortress. Wherever it passed, other beasts scrambled out of the way, and Martial Artists were sent flying.
"No...!"
Xueman, who was tangled up with a giant monkey, screamed in horror as Pipi Pig barreled toward her. It was too late to dodge, and she couldn’t get away while the giant monkey had her pinned.
Just as Pipi Pig was about to hit, the monkey deftly leaped aside.
Then, Pipi Pig gave Xueman an ’affectionate kiss,’ sending her flying with a single slam of its snout.
SNORT, SNORT...
Pipi Pig shook its massive body proudly, as if to say, Too weak. Utterly pathetic. It then turned and charged toward An Bai.
"Oh my god..." An Bai turned and fled. Her strength was comparable to Xueman’s, and since Xueman had already been knocked away, she didn’t dare face Pipi Pig head-on.
SNORT, SNORT... Pipi Pig shot An Bai a disdainful look but didn’t give chase, running off instead to bully the weaker soldiers.
Leng Yue was on a killing spree, specifically targeting the weak and leaving the strong for the beasts to swarm.
Meanwhile, Qin Qing was finding rocks to take down the helicopters, and soon, she had knocked every single one of them out of the sky.
The battle lasted only half an hour. By the end, three-quarters of the 5,000-strong army of Martial Artists were dead, with the remaining quarter all wounded.
"Stop!"
As Qin Qing and Leng Yue were in the midst of their gleeful slaughter, a thunderous shout erupted. The voice boomed like an explosion, causing the blood within both women to churn. They immediately stopped and turned toward the sound.
A stocky, middle-aged man leaped down from the mountain. The moment he landed, his feet smashed a crater three meters in diameter and half a meter deep into the ground. The blast wave instantly sent the surrounding beasts, Martial Artists, and corpses flying.
"So strong!"
Leng Yue’s eyes narrowed. She moved to Qin Qing’s side and whispered, "This man’s strength surpasses my own."
Qin Qing’s heart skipped a beat. "Higher than the Seventh Realm?"
Leng Yue shook her head. "I don’t know."
At that moment, all the living beasts and Martial Artists were stunned by the power and presence of Tu La, Kristina’s father. The beasts, in particular, all retreated behind Qin Qing and Leng Yue, no longer daring to fight.
"Let me introduce myself. I am Tu La of the Golden Family, one of the three Judicator Families, and Kristina’s father." Tu La walked up to Qin Qing and Leng Yue, emanating dominance. He sized them up and said admiringly, "Impressive. You two are very impressive. The three Judicator Families and the Eternal Kingdom have racked their brains trying to subdue the Mutated Beasts, yet you two succeeded."
Qin Qing chuckled. "Perhaps it’s because our moral character is simply impeccable!"
That was a roundabout way of insulting the character of the people from the three Judicator Families and the Eternal Kingdom... Tu La thought.
Leng Yue instantly got into character. "The Judicator Families must think highly of us to send someone like you just to kill us."
"You two misunderstand," Tu La explained quickly. "I was unable to contact Kristina, so I wanted to speak with you. It was Xueman and the others who misinterpreted my orders, which is why I came to explain in person."
Qin Qing snorted coldly. "They can’t even follow orders correctly. What’s the point of keeping fools as dumb as pigs alive?"
"What do you mean by that, Miss Qin?" Tu La asked.
"Everyone who participated in hunting us must die!" Qin Qing stated icily.
The faces of Xueman, An Bai, and the surviving Martial Artists turned pale. They never expected Qin Qing to be so ruthless as to demand all their lives.
Tu La also looked at Qin Qing in astonishment. This impossibly beautiful young girl was a ruthless and decisive person, one who refused to suffer any loss. He said, "The fault lies with me. I failed to convey my orders clearly. I apologize to you both."
"We were hunted for dozens of hours and nearly died in the Abandoned City. You think a simple apology will suffice?" Qin Qing pressed her advantage. Since they were enemies, she was determined to extract some benefit from the situation.
Tu La’s brow furrowed. He suddenly discovered Qin Qing was very difficult to deal with. "Then what must I do for you to quell your anger?"
Without a moment’s hesitation, Qin Qing demanded, "Everyone involved in hunting us must commit suicide to atone for their sins."
"Absolutely not!" Tu La refused decisively. "How about this: I will gift each of you one Totem as my apology. What do you say?"
This is a pretty good apology gift... Qin Qing and Leng Yue were quite satisfied.
However, the art of negotiation lies in maximizing one’s own benefits. As the chairwoman of the Zhulu Group, Qin Qing was a master of this art.
Qin Qing said, "I don’t just want two Totems. I want the methods to enhance the power of all Totems. Furthermore, we will choose them ourselves, not whichever ones you feel like giving us."
Leng Yue gave Qin Qing a mental thumbs-up. The Young Madam is a genius! So formidable!
In truth, Qin Qing and Leng Yue had no interest in the Totems themselves. As long as the Judicator Families and the Eternal Kingdom continued sending people into Nanjing, Ye Xiu could snatch as many as he pleased. What they truly wanted was the knowledge of how to enhance a Totem’s power, as well as all information pertaining to them. This would be invaluable to Ye Xiu in his future conflicts with the Judicator Families.
"Isn’t that excessive?" Tu La frowned, his voice turning grave. "Totems and Special Abilities are the most protected secrets of the three Judicator Families. It’s impossible to leak them to outsiders."
"Alas," Qin Qing said with a theatrical sigh, "Ye Xiu has been fighting tooth and nail to help you all against the Restorer Alliance, and it turns out you’ve never considered him one of your own."
Leng Yue nearly snorted out loud. With that grief-stricken, heartbroken expression on your face... what would all the people from the Eternal Kingdom that the Young Master killed think? Aren’t you afraid their ghosts will rise from the grave to bite you?
