Void Cultivation

Chapter 315 - 314

Chapter 315 - 314

After finding out about the uniqueness of the piece of cloth containing divinity, Grey decided to leave it alone, but still kept a close watch over it.

After storing it back in his storage ring and confirming that there was truly nothing wrong with his body after the eruption of divinity, Grey gathered all the talismans that could temporarily increase his spirit energy and the rate at which he absorbed it. With these, he began to carve a giant inscription on the ground.

A while ago, Grey had obtained a jade slip that recorded how to create inscriptions and magic runes. After studying it out of curiosity, he discovered that he was surprisingly proficient in rune construction, which pushed him to study even harder.

At some point, he became able to create inscriptions from scratch and even design some very complex runes and arrays.

However, the situation had never been ideal for Grey to properly construct large-scale arrays or inscriptions.

Right now, he was attempting to create an array that could combine all the talismans together and greatly increase their overall power.

With him at the center, he would be able to draw power from all the talismans at once, eliminating the problem of their individual effects being too weak when used separately.

In the Dead Sea, far in the distance, black waves churned violently as heavy gray clouds blanketed the sky, casting their usual gloom over the endless waters.

Lightning occasionally split through the darkness, briefly illuminating the sea and causing the winds and waves to grow even more turbulent.

The sky was so dark that sunlight could not pierce through it. Yet, an oppressive, godlike presence lingered above, as though the heavens themselves were watching. Its presence felt like a constant reminder of the calamity that had befallen the land.

Several meters above the sea, a middle-aged man with a stoic expression flew solemnly forward. The aura emanating from his body gave off the impression that he was in the Foundation Establishment Realm, yet at the same time, not entirely so. He also felt like he was in the Qi Accumulation Realm, the Spirit Core Formation Realm, and even a mortal all at once.

These conflicting impressions merged together, making the surrounding air grow even heavier and filled with confusion.

Below him, within the black waters, several dead sea creatures of different species swam in silence. Their eyes were blank as they followed the direction in which the middle-aged man moved, their expressions lifeless and devoid of will.

Moreover, their numbers were vast... nearly reaching one thousand. If any cultivator were to witness such a scene, their mind would likely freeze at the sight of so many sea creatures moving in unison without attacking one another.

It was as though the only thought left in their minds was to follow the man flying above.

Wherever this swarm of fish passed, other sea creatures fled in panic. But those who failed to escape in time would also join the mindless horde within seconds.

Within this seemingly endless swarm were mosasaurs, willow crocodiles, malicious sea devil turtles, and many other powerful sea beasts that would normally give cultivators a difficult time.

When the middle-aged man finally approached the shore, all the sea creatures suddenly stopped.

Then, without warning, they began to devour one another.

It did not matter what species they were or how large they had become, even the smallest creature attempted to devour the largest.

Yet their actions remained mindless and dull. As their bodies were torn apart, their eyes slowly rolled back, and they died almost instantly after consumption. Anyone witnessing such a scene would feel a chill crawl down their spine at the sheer madness and unnatural behavior of the creatures, as well as the indifference of the middle-aged man observing everything.

The slaughter continued until all the sea creatures had died, and the shoreline was completely stained a deep, bloody red.

As for the remaining fragments of flesh and blood, their eyes also slowly rolled back before they died on the spot.

After everything had ended, the middle-aged man slowly raised his right hand while still floating in the air. The next moment, all the blood and flesh on the shore were swept up by an invisible force, rising into the sky.

As they ascended, they were continuously compressed. By the time they reached the same height as the man, they had been refined into a dense mass of blood and flesh.

With a flick of his wrist, the mass was sent into his sleeve. A few moments later, faint chewing sounds could be heard, followed by a satisfied, low growl.

The middle-aged man’s facial features gradually improved. The wrinkles on his face and skin smoothed out, making him appear younger. The light in his eyes brightened slightly, giving him the look of a man who was no longer middle-aged, but not yet young either.

However, the cold glint in his eyes was not something vitality alone could conceal.

After glancing behind him, the now younger-looking man flew off into the distance once more.

As he moved, fluctuations of power resembling a mortal, a Qi Accumulation cultivator, and a Spirit Core Formation cultivator all emanated from his body simultaneously.

At the same time, an illusion of a mountain of corpses appeared behind him. As he flew, the wind seemed to come alive, and faint sounds of crying and wailing could be heard drifting from the mountain of corpses.

The illusion vanished almost as quickly as it appeared, but the sounds of mourning lingered in the air.

After traveling a great distance from the sea, the man finally paused and looked in a particular direction. In a low, icy voice, he spoke.

"This is the last direction where I sensed that person who killed Ougai. His aura disappeared several months ago, but I refuse to believe he is dead. I will take back what he stole from Ougai, and I will show him hell for killing my projection and disrespecting me."

His eyes narrowed with a cold glint as he surged forward once more, heading toward the last known direction of that fading aura.

If Grey were present right now, he would instantly recognize this middle-aged man as the one who had once sent a projection to stop him from killing the old man in Green City.

The old man’s name was Ougai, and he had possessed an item that this man desperately desired. However, Grey had destroyed the projection and humiliated it in the process. Enraged beyond tolerance, the man had abandoned his cultivation art in the outer regions of the Dead Sea and personally set out to find Grey.

He wanted the item Grey had taken, and more than that, he wanted Grey’s life.

"It has been five months since that day, unknown one. I hope you are ready to die by my hand," the younger-looking man said coldly, his expression indifferent, yet his tone carrying an endless chill.
