Chapter 629: Ancient Glory
Chapter 629: Ancient Glory
"Yes, this is the army of Hua Country. These are our soldiers!" Lin Kuang said with immense pride as he watched the soldiers training.
Being a soldier was the most glorious thing in his life. Protecting the nation and defending his homeland was a duty he had to fulfill.
"Alright, let’s go," Lin Kuang said with a smile, glancing at Britney beside him. "They might have some questions for you later. Just answer them truthfully."
"Okay, I understand," Britney nodded.
With that, they left the drill grounds and headed for Yang Wucheng’s office. As it turned out, Yang Wucheng was in the conference room, so Lin Kuang led Britney there instead.
Upon reaching the conference room door, Lin Kuang knocked.
"Come in," Yang Wucheng’s authoritative voice echoed from within. Lin Kuang pushed the door open and stepped into the conference room with Britney.
There weren’t many people inside, only eleven in total. Yang Wucheng sat at the head of the table, and beside him was a middle-aged man. This must be the deputy captain of Dragon Front, Chen Anhun.
"Commander, sir," Lin Kuang said, standing ramrod straight and giving a standard military salute.
"You’re here," Yang Wucheng said with a smile, gesturing to the man beside him. "Let me introduce you. This is the deputy captain of Dragon Front, Chen Anhun. Deputy Captain Chen."
"I know you. The new kid who just joined Dragon Front," Chen Anhun said, standing up with a smile. "Everyone, let’s welcome Lin Kuang as our new teammate."
Hearing this, the other nine members of Dragon Front also rose to their feet, each smiling as they looked at Lin Kuang.
Anyone who joined Dragon Front was considered a brother by its members—a brother to whom they could entrust their lives. This unity was the core of Dragon Front’s ever-growing strength.
Lin Kuang was surprised and genuinely touched by their welcome.
"Thank you, Deputy Captain Chen. Thank you all," Lin Kuang said with a slight bow and a smile. "I’m honored to be one of you. I hope you’ll all look out for me in the future."
"Haha, no need to be so formal," Chen Anhun laughed before his gaze fell on Britney. "Lin Kuang, is the lady beside you a vampire?"
At the same time, Yang Wucheng and the other nine members of Dragon Front all turned their eyes to Britney. In that instant, she felt an immense pressure, as if she were standing naked and completely exposed before them. It was a deeply uncomfortable feeling.
"Deputy Captain Chen, Commander Yang, everyone, please don’t misunderstand," Lin Kuang said seriously, his gaze firm as he looked at each person. "Although Britney is of the Blood Clan, she is one of us. Yesterday, she took the Blood Clan’s oath. She will not harm us, nor will she betray us. You can rest assured. If any problems arise, I am willing to bear all consequences."
"Heh, relax, kid. This girl isn’t evil; I can see that," Chen Anhun chuckled. "Everyone, please sit. Having someone from the Blood Clan with us is actually quite advantageous."
Hearing Chen Anhun’s words, the other nine Dragon Front members visibly relaxed, their trust in him apparent. Lin Kuang also let out a small sigh of relief, guiding Britney to a pair of empty seats.
Once everyone was seated, Yang Wucheng spoke with a smile. "Deputy Captain Chen, we’ll leave the arrangements to you. The East Sea Military Region will fully cooperate with Dragon Front’s operation."
Chen Anhun smiled faintly. "Thank you, Commander Yang."
"Don’t mention it. It is an honor for the East Sea Military Region to cooperate with Dragon Front," Yang Wucheng replied, his tone exceptionally courteous.
"Commander Yang, you’re too polite," Chen Anhun said with a smile. "We all serve the motherland; there is no hierarchy between us. While our combat strength might be greater, most of us came from military regions just like this one. At the end of the day, we are all soldiers."
Yang Wucheng was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and nodded. "That’s true. Still, it’s no easy task for someone from a military region to be selected for Dragon Front."
"No matter. Although it’s difficult, it will happen sooner or later. We all firmly believe that," Chen Anhun said again, and Yang Wucheng nodded in agreement.
Turning to Britney, Chen Anhun smiled. "Miss Britney, please, tell us everything you know once more."
Britney nodded and recounted the story of Cain’s Left Hand.
"So, their battlefield will be Pegasus Mountain," Chen Anhun said thoughtfully after she finished. "I have another question. How do they plan to use Cain’s Left Hand? And more importantly, how can we destroy it?"
Since Dragon Front had been mobilized, every single vampire that had infiltrated Hua Country had to die. The dignity of Hua Country is inviolable! At the same time, Cain’s Left Hand could not be taken by them. If they truly obtained the legendary power of Cain, the progenitor of vampires, it would pose a grave threat to Hua Country.
Britney paused, a look of helplessness on her face. "Mr. Chen, I’m not entirely sure. I can only give you a vague answer. Legend says that Cain’s Left Hand is protected by a Seal. To break it, one needs the Primeval Blood of our clan, among other things. Only then will the Energy within the hand be released."
"As for what secrets Cain’s Left Hand truly holds, I have no idea. There is only a legend that if one obtains both Cain’s left and right hands, they can become the most powerful of the Blood Clan. They would lead one of the two alliances and finally put an end to the ceaseless Holy War between them. As for how to destroy Cain’s Left Hand, I don’t know," Britney said, looking at Chen Anhun with a sincere expression.
Chen Anhun watched her quietly, as if judging the truthfulness of her words.
"I see," he stated finally. "If Cain’s Left Hand does appear, our only option will be to secure it and hide it away."
"If the Secret Alliance and the Demon Banquet Alliance fail to acquire Cain’s Left Hand, I’m afraid they won’t rest," Britney said, her expression grim. "It’s far too important to the Blood Clan."
"It doesn’t matter," Chen Anhun said, his expression calm and his voice resolute. "It’s time for Hua Country’s strength to be put on display again. After so many years, many seem to have forgotten the glory this ancient nation once held. But the ancient legacy has not been severed, and we will continue to defend its ancient glory!"
